Here at Regimental Cleaning Services, we have a close relationship with the Armed Forces and do our best to support the community in any way we can. Our link with the Armed Forces stems from our Founder, Ian Williams, who served ten years in the Welsh Guards, and as a company, we also have a strong track record of employing ex-servicemen and women.
Our ongoing commitment to employing from within the military community has meant we have been accredited with the Armed Forces Covenant Employability Recognition Scheme Silver Award.
The Armed Forces Covenant is a pledge that acknowledges that those who serve, or who have served, in the armed forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy and society.
The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) encompasses bronze, silver and gold awards for employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to the armed forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
The scheme is designed to recognise private sector support, although public sector organisations, such as the emergency services, local authorities, NHS trusts and executive agencies, are also eligible.
In order to receive this award, some of our requirements included:
To have signed the Armed Forces Covenant
To have already stated our intent to be supportive by using the ERS website to register at the bronze level
To proactively demonstrate that service personnel/armed forces community are not unfairly disadvantaged as part of their recruiting and selection processes
To ensure that our workforce is aware of our positive policies towards defence people issues.
To demonstrate support to training by providing at least 5 days’ additional unpaid/paid leave
Speaking on the award, Ian Williams, our founder, said:
“I am elated to receive such a prestigious accreditation. This accreditation symbolises our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant, and we will continue to provide an avenue of employment for ex-servicemen and women.
“As a former Welsh Guard, I know the struggle of finding consistent employment once leaving the military, so to be able to help the community in any way I can is an honour.”
