Factors such as household recycled waste, water quality and air quality all contribute to a clean and healthy living environment. Check out our previous blog which identifies the benefits of a clean working environment here. We hope that as a company, our work at Regimental Cleaning Services can help improve these areas and carry out essential environmental work to make your area a better place to live.
Our Clean is Green initiative was set up with this in mind. It’s estimated that ten million tonnes of litter end up in our oceans and on our coastlines annually, with plastics contributing to a significant percentage of that.
Clean is Green aims to revitalise the Swansea coastline through litter picking and education of the issue.
Buildworld carried out research into various Neighbourhood Pride statistics, and as a whole, Durham took the top spot for overall cleanliness, with Exeter and Chester following.
But when competing against each other, which other cities came out on top as the cleanest cities in the UK? The top ten cleanest were as follows:
Durham (Clean & tidy score of 87.50)
Exeter (Clean & tidy score of 79.19)
Chester (Clean & tidy score of 75.00)
Lincoln (Clean & tidy score of 75.00)
Cambridge (Clean & tidy score of 73.28)
Chelmsford (Clean & tidy score of 70.83)
Oxford (Clean & tidy score of 70.31)
St Albans (Clean & tidy score of 68.75)
Worcester (Clean & tidy score of 66.67)
Norwich (Clean & tidy score of 64.06)
A similar study, the Clean Britan Report, identified the cleanest towns in the UK back in 2019, with two Welsh towns making an appearance in the top 10. The top ten cleanest were as follows:
Narbeth
Penicuik
Didcot
Scunthorpe
Inverness
Bournemouth
Bury
Eccles
Saltash
Wrexham
The Clean Britain Report also compared towns across the UK for recycling. The top five towns with the best facilities, disposal routines and overall recycling awareness were:
Didcot
Chepstow
Swansea
Cardiff
Grangemouth
Finally, South Wales leads the way on the cleanliest water quality in the UK, another aspect of the Clean Britain Report. The following locations made sure their local water supply is clean, potable and safe.
Swansea
Narberth
Wrexham
Bury
Wigan
We’re passionate about helping the environment and keeping our local towns and cities as clean as possible. Studies show that 50% of all litter found outdoors in Wales could have been recycled and disposed of correctly, and as a result, clean-up projects have cost taxpayers £1 billion a year.
Through work such as our Clean is Green Initiative, at Regimental Cleaning Services we are doing our part to tackle environmental problems in South Wales, making our local area a nicer place for everyone.
